With a dealership lot full of trade-ins and off-lease vehicles, sales manager Larry White sat down to total up his auction costs.
He had written checks to GMAC Smart Auction and to Dealer Services and to Block Auction and to the transportation company. The costs didn't include the wages of the used car manager and porters. And, still the cars were unsold and remained on his lot....

Larry, a sales manager with 20 years in automotive retailing, knew there had to be a more cost-efficient way to wholesale used cars. He set out to help his dealership - and others - save time and money by creating a new auction company.
Several principles guided his efforts. The new auction company should have "a skin in the game" and make money only when a deal is done. For speed and efficiency, the internet would be the way to go. And, knowing the many demands placed on dealership management, the idea of "Keep It Simple, Sir" (e.g., K.I.S.S.) would be paramount.
